Count this one under rumors, but we’ve just received further proof that the ASUS made Nexus 7 second gen exists. This week we’ve witnessed the leak of a mystery model called ASUS K008, that may just be the new slate and now there’s a fresh device with Android 4.3 at the FCC, that sounds like the same device.
While the ASUS K008/K009 appeared at the Bluetooth SIG, with Bluetooth 4.0 certification, this newcomer came to the FCC with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. It doesn’t quite line up with the rumors of the past weeks, talking about a 1200p new Nexus 7. The CPU here is a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro and we’ve got the Adreno 320 GPU handling the graphics. There’s also 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.
At the back we’ve got a 5 megapixel camera and the battery is underwhelming at 3950 mAh capacity. This mystery device also comes with a 1.3 MP camera at the front and also support for LTE and NFC, as well as Qi wireless charging. The bezel is thinner than on the current Nexus 7 and the case will also be thinner, at around 7.5 mm. Will this model debut in July as rumored?
