Here comes yet another rumored related to the next gen Apple iPad, this time courtesy of a report saying that Apple will rely on a modified LED backlight for its product. The reason? Well, they’re trying to make the device as light as possible.
NPD DisplaySearch told CNET that they think the fifth gen iPad will come with a power efficient LED array. Apple will also introduce a film-based touch sensor technology, as they try to slim down the device. Analyst Paul Semenza claims that in order to make the iPad 5 thinner and lighter in design, the size of the LED backlight needs to be reduced.
As the Cupertino giant does that, they will also make the device more power efficient using more efficient LEDs. So, what we know so far is that the screen will use the same thin film technology as the iPad Mini, the same iPad Mini small bezel design and a thinner and lighter case. Sounds good enough?
