Google is becoming slightly careless lately, so after seeing the Nexus 7 2 in a video last month (supposedly), a mystery tablet that might just be the new Nexus pops up in yet another official Google video.

This vid details some new features of the Street View project, like the new cameras and eye level views that will showcase the goodness of Central Park and New York monuments. Anyway, at about 0:53 in the video you’ll notice a strange tablet, that may feel like a Nexus 7 in a protective case, or something like that.

So far we know that this device will come with a quad core Snapdragon CPU and a 7 inch 1920 x 1200 pixel display. Last I heard, the launch was supposed to go down in July and it was also meant to debut Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. I have to say that from the looks of it, the Nexus 7 2 will be an ugly device…

Update:  Turns out it was a ZTE tablet called the Optik and it was a device with Honeycomb on board. Details here.
