Apple is expected to start the production of its next gen iPad Air this month and we already have some details regarding the design and components. Apparently, display components are going into mass production in the middle of this month.
Components like the processor and camera sensors are entering production next month and it should all line up for a release in the fall. The new iPad Air sports a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixel, according to ETNews. The device is said to sport a more advanced A8 CPU, that focuses on efficiency and battery performance. This CPU is expected to appear on both the iPad and iPhone.
The A8 is a system on a chip that brings marginal speed improvements rather than core architectural changes. The new back camera will be an upgraded one, moving from 5 MP to 8 MP, bring the slate in line with the latest iPhones. The front camera will also jump from 1.2 MP to 1.5 MP. It’s interesting that there’s no mention of Touch ID, although that’s expected to be a feature as well on the new iPad.
Split screen app multitasking is once again in the rumors, but we can’t guarantee that.
