Amazon is prepping a new Fire Tablet it seems and it has already reached the FCC. While Amazon has upgraded its Fire HD 8 tablet in 2018, it hasn’t upgraded its Fire HD 10 or Fire 7 models since 2017, so something it coming.

Tablet Monkeys have found a new device on the FCC website, which hints at an unannounced Amazon Fire tablet. We’ve heard through the grapevine that the product may end up as an entry level Amazon Fire 7 tablet update. The FCC documents mention support for WiFi 802.11n, but no trace of WiFi 802.11 ac. Other documents mention dual band WiFi and Bluetooth, a camera, audio jack and microSD card slot, plus USB port.

Usually Amazon makes small Fire tablet or Fire HD upgrades, like 1 GB of extra RAM, some extra storage, a stronger CPU and maybe a resolution bump. A battery bump could also be available. We can’t exactly predict when this device will launch, but usually a Fall release is a safe bet. New color choices, accessories and a new UI wouldn’t hurt, layered on top of a newer Android.
