As you might already be aware, starting with January 4th, Motorola will split into Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. What’s interesting is that the Mobility section will also include Moto’s set-top-box business and this spawned a theory or two recently. Apparently, the new Moto branch will make a device that’s able to stream content/video wirelessly to tablets and phones.
During his speech at the Reuters Global Media Summit, company president Daniel Moloney said that Motorola is working on a new device that supports streaming to tablets and phone and it’ll integrated it in the new set-top-boxes of the future.
Service providers are chosen to sell this unit and they might charge an additional fee for its use, although we sure hope not.
