Microsoft is doubling down on AI and performance with its latest Surface for Business Copilot+ PCs, introducing fresh iterations of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, now packing Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors.
The refreshed Surface Laptop for Business keeps things sleek while delivering serious upgrades under the hood. Available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch models, the device features a thin-bezel, anti-reflective display and a battery that promises up to 22 hours of life on a single charge. It’s also Wi-Fi 7-ready and comes with an array of ports, including an optional smart card reader for enterprise security.
Microsoft claims it’s 26% faster in multi-tasking than its predecessor, with double the graphics performance and triple the battery life during Teams calls. A built-in NPU (Neural Processing Unit) powers AI-driven enhancements, pushing the device further into the future of work.
The keyboard has been fine-tuned for a comfortable typing experience, and the large haptic precision touchpad makes navigation seamless. Sustainability is also a focus: Microsoft has incorporated 100% recycled rare earth metals in the magnets and, for the first time, a battery cell using 100% recycled cobalt.
Surface Pro for Business: A Versatile AI Workhorse
The Surface Pro for Business now features a 13-inch PixelSense display that cuts down reflections by up to 50%, with an optional OLED upgrade for deeper contrast and better color accuracy. The Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors inside promise a 28% performance boost and 98% improved graphics capabilities over the previous Surface Pro 9, alongside double the battery life for video calls.
Microsoft is also embracing modularity with the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard, which can be used attached or wirelessly, giving users even more flexibility between tablet and laptop mode. Security gets an upgrade, too—sign-in options include Windows Hello facial recognition and NFC security keys, ideal for industries like healthcare that require quick, secure access.
Sustainability takes center stage here as well, with an 89% recycled enclosure, 100% recycled aluminum, and easily replaceable components like the motherboard and SSD for extended device lifespan.
Looking Ahead: Surface Laptop 5G Coming in 2025
Microsoft also teased a Surface Laptop 5G, the first Surface Laptop with built-in cellular connectivity, slated for a 2025 release. Details remain scarce, but expect a productivity-first machine that stays connected anywhere.
Security and AI: Copilot+ PCs Mean Business
Security is a big focus with Copilot+ PCs, featuring the Microsoft Pluton security processor enabled by default to safeguard sensitive data. Windows 11, paired with Microsoft 365, brings enterprise-grade protection against phishing, malware, and ransomware.
AI-powered tools are also getting smarter. Windows Search now lets users find files with contextual phrases, making it easier to track down important documents. For IT teams, Surface Management Portal in Microsoft Intune provides deeper control over enterprise devices. Starting February 24, 2025, Security Copilot will enter public preview, offering AI-driven device management to simplify fleet oversight.
