BGR’s reliable source tells them that Microsoft is planning to release a full Office suite for the Apple iPad and Android tablets. The debut will take place in November for both platforms and the insider says that he saw Office running on an iPad and it looks like the previous leak from The Daily months ago.
At that time Microsoft denied the app was authentic, but apparently it is. We’re also expecting Microsoft Office to come to the iPhone and iPod Touch and not only the iPad, especially since the loading screen of the application says “Office for iOS”, not just iPad. The software brings Word, Excel and PowerPoint functionality to Apple’s tablet and phone and it has a similar look to Microsoft’s OneNote app, according to The Daily’s report from a while ago.
Anyway, I have to say that Apple has a productivity suite of its own and it’s not that bad. iWork has been a pretty good productivity solution for a while now, but some people have been using Office for many, many years, so they want to continue that experience. I wonder how the app will be priced, considering that Apple’s own apps for text editing, spreadsheets and presentations are not that pricey.
