Microsoft posted a couple of job listings on February 15th on its own site and they are hinting at a Windows Blue upgrade headed to both PCs and Windows Phone devices. The mention was done by mistake and there are two jobs that are the main focus here: Software Development Engineer in Test and Senior Development Lead.

Both mention Windows Blue, with the development engineer posting being focused on the “core experience features that are the centerpiece of the new Windows UI” and saying that “Windows Blue promises to build and improve upon varied aspects of the OS”. The aspects include start screen, application lifecycle, windowing and personalization. The job listing was rewritten in the meantime, letting out the Windows Blue piece. The Senior Development Lead listing mentions Windows Phone Blue and a brand new Excel app for the platform.

Blue is expected to be an important refresh for Windows 8, improving aesthetics and user experience. It will be the start of a series of affordable and yearly updates for Windows services, a new approach to Microsoft’s software updates. Windows Blue is rumored to arrive in Q3 2013.
