After last month when there was a rumor about the fact the Microsoft will bring MKV support in Windows 10, today, the IT giant officially confirms that the new version of Windows operating system will bring indeed support for such a media file.

Also, Windows 10 will offer support for the HEVC media files too. Thanks to the fact that both the MKV and the HEVC support will come out of the box in Windows 10, all the apps will be able to take advantage of this new media format support.

As we may know, MKV is the most used format when it comes to video material, this one being available in previous Windows versions only through some 3rd party apps that brought MKV support, like VLC media player.
