Remember the LG Optimus Pad? Yes, the tablet that had a commercial with a Transformers robot that crushed an Apple… Well, that slate apparently has a successor now, one that will follow in the footsteps of the 3D tablet also known as the T-Mobile G-Slate. How do we know this? Because the following picture just showed up on the web:

This device looks very much like the original LG Optimus Pad and supposedly it comes with the same form factor and screen diagonal: 8.9 inches. It may still get bumped up to 10.1 inches and as far as software and hardware goes, we’re left in the dark. Pocketnow is guessing that we’re likely to expect a quad core Tegra 3 CPU here, plus at least 16GB of internal memory and I suppose that there’s at least a 3MP cam at the back, maybe this time with 3D support.

The OS of choice is most likely Honeycomb, with a quick update to Android 4.0 months or weeks after the product launches. The interesting thing to watch in the future is how hardware manufacturers will choose to customize Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Let’s hope they’ll improve the experience rather than ruin it…
