Fresh off a strong showing at CES 2025, Lenovo is gearing up for another big reveal at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month. According to a leak from Evan Blass, the company is preparing to introduce the ThinkBook Flip AI PC, a laptop with a flexible OLED display that could redefine hybrid computing.
Blass’ latest leak suggests that the ThinkBook Flip AI PC will be showcased at MWC and could be one of Lenovo’s most ambitious foldable laptops yet. Leaked images indicate that the laptop features a vertically expanding screen, similar in concept to the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable AI PC that Lenovo introduced at CES. However, unlike its rollable predecessor, the ThinkBook Flip AI is expected to have a screen that bends into different form factors—possibly even a tent mode.
The concept builds on Lenovo’s history with flexible devices, following the ThinkPad X1 Fold and various Yoga series laptops. But unlike the X1 Fold, which leaned more toward being a tablet-first device, the ThinkBook Flip AI PC appears to retain a built-in keyboard, making it feel like a traditional laptop—just with a futuristic, adaptable display.
Unlike other foldable laptops that split the display into two separate panels, the ThinkBook Flip AI seems to use a single folding OLED panel. When closed, the upper portion of the display remains outward-facing, similar to how some foldable smartphones work. When opened, it functions as a regular laptop, but with an additional screen section that extends vertically, effectively increasing screen real estate without compromising portability.
One of the key benefits here? No detachable keyboard. Many previous foldable designs, including the ThinkPad X1 Fold and ASUS’ ZenBook Duo lineup, required a separate wireless keyboard. The ThinkBook Flip AI takes a different approach, ensuring that the keyboard is part of the device rather than an optional add-on.
While the full specs remain unknown, the ThinkBook Flip AI PC is expected to include AI-driven enhancements. Given the industry’s current trajectory, it’s likely powered by Intel’s Arrow Lake-H or Lunar Lake chips, or possibly an AMD Strix Point-based Ryzen AI processor. It’s also safe to assume that Windows 11 will be the OS of choice, given Lenovo’s longstanding partnership with Microsoft.
The leaked renders suggest minimal port selection, with pill-shaped indentations on either side that could house USB-C or USB-A ports. The webcam appears to be positioned inside a notch at the top of the display, a design choice we’ve seen in previous Lenovo devices.
Lenovo has been steadily pushing the boundaries of flexible and rollable displays. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, announced at CES, was the first retail laptop with a rollable OLED screen. The company has also experimented with folding devices like the Yoga series and the ThinkPad X1 Fold, which launched back in 2022.
It remains unclear whether the ThinkBook Flip AI PC will be a consumer-ready product or merely a proof of concept. If history is any indication, Lenovo often showcases prototypes that may or may not make it to market. For instance, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable started as a concept before Lenovo confirmed a retail launch. Similarly, the ThinkBook Flip AI PC could be a sneak peek at a future product line.
With MWC kicking off on March 3, it won’t be long before we get the full details. If Lenovo does bring the ThinkBook Flip AI PC to market, it could be one of the most intriguing foldable laptops yet. Unlike previous designs that sacrificed the keyboard for extra screen space, this model seems to strike a balance between functionality and innovation.
Will this be the future of foldable laptops? We’ll find out soon enough. Stay tuned for more updates as MWC 2025 approaches.
