CES 2026 is about a week away and most companies have already teased the bulk of their showcase. Samsung did, LG did and so does Lenovo now. Their most revolutionary product is the Lenovo ThinkPad Rollable XD, which is a rollable laptop… with a twist.
It builds on the already existing Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable AI PC, but with a vertically expanding screen panel. This turns a compact 13.3 inch display to a vertical 16 inch one. Reasons? Well, improved scrolling on websites and TikTok, expanded spreadsheets and a larger view of a document for example. Maybe also useful for people working with lots of video effects when editing.
The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable was the world’s first foldable PC, but this new version is supposed to be the world’s first “out folding device”. The Rollable XD will also bring a transparent back cover, a glass one, instead of the aluminum dual tone approach of the last rollable. It would appear that the 16 inch OLED panel is curved or rolled behind the transparent glass back.
We’re dealing here with a 180 degree Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover, that Lenovo and Corning co-developed. The transparent lid helps, because it can display information from the inward rolled screen. We’re also getting AI, obviously, with the likes of AI live translation, a voice assistant. The transparent glass cover also enables multimodel interactions, when the lid is closed.
Expect a huge price, especially since the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable sells at $3299.
