Here’s yet another tablet designed with children in mind: LeapPad Ultra, from LeapFrog. This is a 7 inch slate with the first kid-friendly browser on the market. This model is also built to be kid-resistant, so it’s prone to drops and smashes.

The product packs a 7 inch Duo Tech display, only mentioned as “high resolution”. There’s also 8 GB of storage on board, a front and back camera, a design focused on durability and easy handling, that involves a plastic body and wide edges. We get a physical directional pad, that makes you think of joysticks, a dedicated Home button and a speaker at the front.

Connectivity available here is WiFi and the software is designed for children, with 800 apps organized in various categories, from music to pets. The most interesting aspect of the software is the Zui LeapSearch browser, that filters content for kids, so they’re not exposed to anything that’s not fit for their age. The device is priced at $150 and it will be released in early August.
