Japan Display Inc, a conglomerate of big Japanese companies that make screen panels has announced a few days ago the start of the mass production of a new WhiteMagic panel. The new panel has high luminance, high definition and it’s also power saving.

The WhiteMagic is a 5 inch Full HD TFT LCD panel, a proprietary product for the Japanese conglomerate, that uses unique technology to improve energy usages and achieve high luminance. This panel adds an extra White (W) subpixel into a RGB pattern and improves the picture brightness. It also scans the input picture image data relying on an unique algorithm, that provides the best signal processing for the LCD panel and backlight.

There’s a new mode to improve outdoor visibility by increasing luminance by 1.5 times and that’s done by keeping the same power usage level of the LCD backlight as standard RGB LCD products. The resolution density of the new panel is 446 ppi and the contrast ratio is 1000:1. Such displays will be showcased during FPD International 2013 at the end of this month.
