The rumor of the week, possibly of the month has to do with a sudden iPad release. If you think there’s no such thing, guess again, since Apple is now said to be prepping the iPad Pro 2 for debut next week. Of course that’s a rumor, but let’s see what info we have right now.

Industry insiders are the one with the info and honestly speaking, the 12.9 inch iPad Pro was overdue an upgrade. The OG model came in 2015 and rumors about a Spring release of the successor this year came a while ago. The analysts who mentioned the release from next week are quoting reputable sources and mention a time frame between Monday, March 20 and Friday, March 24. Apple was previously rumored to hold the event early next month, judging by some availability calendars.

There’s a slight chance that Apple won’t even hold a special event for the release, opting instead to just send out a press release. We’re actually expecting a trio or quartet of new iPads, so it would be odd to see them all debut without an event. If the conference does take place, it will probably also bring us a new Apple TV and maybe a new iPhone SE.

In the end Apple could split the new iPads launches into two: iPad Pro 2 next week and the affordable 9.7 incher and 10.5 incher in the fall during the iPhone 8 event. Or maybe even at WWC 2017…
