We’ve seen the iPad doing wonderful 3D tricks with the aid of a pyramid accessory, but there’s more to the Apple tablet than meets the eye. Holograms are also available, thanks to a long exposure image created by moving the iPad along a surface, as it plays section of a tridimensional image. Here’s the result:

Making Future Magic: iPad light painting from Dentsu London on Vimeo.

You’ll see the resulting 3D image seemingly floating on air, thanks to Dentsu London and BERG. This is basically a great ad for their creative services, but it took quite an amount of work. First you need to create software models of 3D objects and animations, next render them like a virtual CAT scan and slice them.

Then, it comes down to playing these on the iPad surface as videos and drag the tablet through the air while capturing the motion in long exposure photographs. 3D animation is the final result!
