The Apple iPad 5 prototype has leaked, although we’re still far from the moment of the big launch. At first sight, this may seem like your average iPad Mini, but slightly bigger. Rumors say that the iPad 5 will have a 9.7 inch display and very thin bezels.

The implementation of the smaller bezels will be done just like on the iPad Mini. The device is also said to be thinner than the previous versions, actually thinner by 15% and 25% to 33% lighter than the iPad 3 and iPad 4. In order to make this model so skinny, its maker relied on the use of one LED bar for backlighting instead of two bars like on the iPad 4.

Thanks to the use of a single bar, the power usage is also expected to drop. The newcomer is said to pack an Apple A7X processor, 8 megapixel camera, second rear facing microphone, just like the one of the iPhone 5 and it’s expected to come in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions, as well as the big one, 128 GB. It will support smart gestures and wireless charging, according to rumors and there’s also a supposed price tag of $500 for the 16 GB unit.
