There’s a rumor going around on the interwebs saying that Apple will announced the new iPad early next month, probably to steel the show from MWC 2012, that debuts at the end of February. We’re expecting the iPad 3 with a Retina Display (2048 x 1536 pixel resolution), an A6 SoC processor and maybe 4G LTE connectivity.

The report on the debut date of the new iPad comes from Japanese blog Macotakara, that has provided some reliable inside info in the past, so why not go with it? They quote sources in the US and Asian supply claims and say that the iPad 3 will start selling in early March. In 2011 Apple announced the iPad 2 in March and it hit sales a week and a half after its debut, so why this long announcement window in 2012? Something doesn’t make sense…

The reason mentioned here is that Apple is giving developers time to create applications compatible with the new resolution and upscale the older apps. Another piece of news is that predictably enough, once the new iPad is out, the iPad 2 will get a price reduction, just like the older Apple products. This will make the last year Apple tablet a very solid rival for the Amazon Kindle Fire that has been eating up millions of potential sales from Apple’s market.
