Apple unveiled out of nowhere its new iPads yesterday and aside from two new iPad Pro models, we also got a budget unit. Well… no longer a budget model, because it got a tad more expensive. We’re dealing with the iPad 10 here and all details are available below.
The 10th gen iPad is the follow-up to the entry level iPad 9 from 2021. The new iPad is thinner, it has flat sides and a bigger screen, a 10.9 inch IPS LCD with a 2360 x 1640 pixel resolution and up to 500 nits of brightness. One would easily compare it to the iPad Air (2022), but without an Apple M1 processor. Instead we find inside the Apple A14 Bionic processor, a hexa core unit with a 4 core GPU and a 16 core Neural Engine.
The tablet is available in Silver, Blue, Pink and Yellow. It’ll come in 64 GB and 256 GB storage versions, plus Wi-Fi only and 5G models. Another piece of novelty is the fact that the Lightning port has been replaced by an USB-C. The support for Apple Pencil gen 1 is still here, but you need an adapter to charge the stylus. iPad 10 uses a landscape oriented 12 MP ultrawide camera, with Smart HDR 3 and the ability to fit more people in the frame. There’s also a 12 MP back camera with 4 capture.
Apple is also offering a Magic Keyboard Folio, that connects via a Smart Connector and attaches magnetically. It integrates a kickstand and a trackpad. The price is $249. The iPad 10 is up for preorder now and it’s priced at $449 for the 64 GB WiFi unit.
