India recently received a brand new tablet model, the Intex i-Tab, a device pictured below and one packing an 8 inch display. This is a 2 point capacitive screen slate with a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, a pretty common choice among affordable tablets nowadays. Here’s the device:
Intex i-Tab comes with 512MB of DDR3 RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot (up to 32GB of extra storage), plus WiFi and 3G. There’s also USB connectivity, a 5000 mAh battery, that should provide 5-6 hours of functioning time. Sanjay Kumar, GM, Mobile Business at Intex Technologies said that the Intex iTab is an unique piece of gear, especially because of the 8 inch display, that’s an unique choice among so many 7 inch slates.
This tablet runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and offers various apps such as “Word, Excel and PowerPoint Viewer”, apparently, plus Adobe Reader. There’s also Android Market compatibility and even Angry Birds in the mix. The expected price here is around $236, which is reasonable for an average tablet, but when you think about the Nook model and the Kindle Fire… not so much.
