In case you didn’t know, Intel will get into the Android tablet game in 2012, courtesy of the Medfield mobile processor, that might also make it to some smartphones. Well, we now have the first photo of a Medfield Android tablet, in the developer version. We’ll probably see more of these at CES 2012 and MWC 2012.
Medfield is rumored to surpass in performance the Nvidia Tegra 2 and the Qualcomm S3 dual core processors. Android Community recently received a tip from an inside source with this picture and the guy who played with the Medfield tablet praises its quality. The tipster is saying that this 10.1 inch slate is very thin and its weight is perfect for its size. The device runs Android 3.x Honeycomb and relies on the Intel 1.6GHz dual core processor I mentioned above.
The new Medfield solution belongs to the Atom line and it appears that the tablet pictured above comes with a couple of useful ports, such as microUSB, mini HDMI and a microSD card slot. Tablets based on Intel’s technology will be launched in the first half of 2012 and big expectations are in play here… Let’s see if the chipset giant delivers.
