There are a few markets on the planet where tablets continued to grow in Q3 2016 and India is one of those markets. Apparently, the slate market in the country grew 7.8% in Q3, judging by the IDC data. The charge was lead by Datawind and more details are mentioned below.

1.06 million tablets and detachables were shipped in India in the third quarter, which represents stagnation from the previous Q3 of 2015, but it’s a growth over Q2 this year. Datawind leads the market, with 26.1% and the firm’s volume managed to grow 73% during the third quarter, thanks to its second manufacturing plant set up in India.

Samsung is second, with a pretty good 26.2% growth over the previous three months and then come iBall, Lenovo and Micromax, with 13.6% share, 12% and 10.1%. Apple somehow didn’t make the cut among the top 5 brands, even though they’re leading the global market. 4G tablet shipments have also been confirmed to be solid, with an increase of 5%% from the previous time frame.

A drop will come in Q4, say the experts, coming off the Q3 spike for the Indian Diwali festive season.
