Huawei’s MediaPad is proving to be quick when it comes to updates, so after being the first tablet with Android 3.2 last year, now it’s lucky enough to get Android 4.0 ICS. I frankly don’t know how many big brand tablets out there with a 7 inch diagonal got Android 4.0 so far, but my guess is that there are very few.

You can find the new software on the MediaPad website. The software seems pretty close to the stock Android 4.0 experience and doesn’t involve too much customization. The first things to notice after the update are the new and enhanced camera app and gallery app, a new people app and the ability to dismiss apps from the recently used menu. Performance tweaks were also applied and Android 4.0 will provide a more consistent look and feel throughout the OS.

Just quick reminder of what the MediaPad is: 7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel tablet with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It also has a front and rear camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. It’s also known as the Orange Tahiti on some markets, where it’s sold by carrier Orange.
