Huawei is keeping busy ahead of the Huawei P30 Pro unveiling tomorrow and it announced a brand new tablet, the MediaPad M5 Lite 8 model. This one is an 8 inch budget offering with a Kirin 710 CPU.

It’s actually the smaller version of the MediaPad M5 Lite announced last October. This version also brings some upgrades and relies on the powerful Kirin 710 CPU, which we already saw in action on the Huawei Mate 20 Lite and Honor 8X phones. The design is pretty standard and the product comes with two speakers, both placed at the back and tuned by Harman Kardon. They also offer Huawei Histen sound effects.

The Kirin 710 CPU is clocked at 2.2 GHz and the slate ships with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot. The device’s 8 inch screen has a Full HD resolution and uses 2.5D curved glass. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top and also uses a 5100 mAh battery. Camera-wise, there’s a 13 MP shooter at the back side, plus an 8 MP cam upfront.

The device will be available in Dark Gray and Champagne Gold and it’ll go on sale in China today, starting at $178. That’s the WiFi only 3 GB RAM version, while the 4G/ 4 GB RAM one is $238.
