Huawei just unveiled a new tablet, the Huawei MatePad 5G, which is basically identical to the MatePad 10.4, minus the CPU and 5G. The newcomer gets WiFi and 5G as novelties, both thanks to the modems bundled with the new Kirin 820 CPU inside. We have details and renders below.

Huawei MatePad 5G is priced at around 400 euros and keeps the 10.4 inch IPS LCD display of the MatePad 10.4 with a 2000 x 1200 pixel resolution. Inside we find the Kirin 820 processor, plus 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, expandable via microSD card slot. The Kirin 820 CPU is quite the upgrade from the Kirin 810, bringing double the Cortex-A76 cores (4 of them) and a more powerful Mali-G57 MP6 GPU, which is up to 30% faster than the G52 MP6. We also get an 8 MP front camera and a main camera with the same resolution.

Quad speakers are available as well, plus 4 microphones. The battery capacity stays at 7250 mAh, but the charging speed goes up from 18W to 22.5W. The battery is able to get to 30% in 30 minutes and 100% in 2.5 hours. This device is promoted as focused on online education for little ones and students. Available from September 23rd, the product has Histen 6.1 stereo sound technology and a smart split screen function for online education. It lets you use half the screen for lessons and half for note taking.

There’s also the M Pencil stylus supported with 4096 levels of pressure and 20 ms latency.
