After a period of speculations and leaks, today we come across a legit looking Huawei Mate X2 render. By the way this week Huawei also announced the debut date of the Mate X2, which is February 22nd. It’s been a while since Huawei last launched a foldable and the Mate Xs itself was more of a Mate X remake.

This time they’re changing the script and adopting an in folding design. The launch poster also suggest the whole in folding thing and the rumors point towards a Galaxy Z Fold 2 style design. Huawei also confirmed a Kirin 9000 CPU inside and we’re expecting an 8 inch internal display and a 6+ inch external panel, maybe a 6.45 panel. The render only shows an external selfie camera, without one integrated in the main screen, sans notch, sans punch hole. Obviously we get a dual selfie camera in a pill shaped punch hole, much like the P40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro had.

A quad camera system is rumored for the back side with a 50 megapixel primary shooter, a 16 MP ultrawide cam and a periscope telephoto cam, plus maybe a Bokeh or Macro shooter. Mate X2 is very likely to sport a 4400 mAh battery with 66W rapid charging, like the Mate 40 Pro. Measurements are 161.8 x 145.8 x 8.2 mm and the device weighs 295 grams. Reports are saying that both BOE and Samsung Display will provide the panels on board of the Mate X2. Later leaks only pointed to BOE for screens, no Samsung.

The source also mentioned Sunny Optical and O-Film Tech as the camera lens supplier, which by the way also works with Apple.
