It’s one thing to hear about Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates coming to devices and another to start discussing Android 7.0 Nougat updates. Turns out that the HTC Nexus 9 is getting the latest release soon, according to the folks of the carrier Rogers.
They’ve updated the software release schedule for the following time frame, revealing that the Android 7.0 update is close, but only for the HTC Nexus 9. Just a bit over a week ago, Google confirmed the name Nougat as associated to Android 7.0 and said it plans to release the OS later this summer. Nougat is expected to bring VR support in the form of Daydream, as well as Clear all button for multitasking and multi window mode.
There will be a standard one, split screen view and picture in picture, some of them for mobile devices, others for Android TV. The notification/Quick Settings area has also changed design, being more compact now, but also showing wider notifications. More will be revealed over the summer.
