HTC’s got a smartphone-related event taking place right now in London, but the company’s following in LG’s footsteps and readying an Android tablet as well. The info was confirmed by DigiTimes’ sources inside Taiwanese component makers. Apparently, the HTC slate will run Android 3.0 Gingerbread and it’s meant for a Q1 2011 debut.

It remains to be seen if this tablet is the same with the one getting ready to land on Verizon and possibly based on Google Chrome OS. Of course, the mystery sources said nothing about specifications, or at least the display size. However, specialists expect the device to support 3G, in order to make it accessible to carriers and subsidies.

Update:  replaced the pic with a more recent HTC concept tablet. Thanks Daniel for pointing the age of the picture out!
