When the Samsung Galaxy S III got 9 million preorders in just a dozen or so of days, everyone thought it was an indication of great future sales. Now the $200 tablet Nexus 7 is also getting traction, after being unveiled this week during the I/O 2012 event. It features a quad core Tegra 3 CPU, 8GB/16GB of storage and 1GB of RAM.

For the unbeatable price mentioned above you also get a front camera and a battery good enough for 9 hours of HD playback. Hugo Barra, director of product management for Android said that the preorders are going well and Google is already excited. No numbers were given yet, but I suspect they’re in the millions, since that what I’d define as “big”, comparing to the likes of the iPad and Kindle Fire. The Nexus 7 will become a popular tablet without doubt, that unless an iPad Mini spoils the fun this year.

There’s also the Kindle Fire II, supposed to debut this fall, but till then the Google Nexus 7 can reign peacefully, I guess… So, any people here on Tablet News who ordered a unit? Any shipping dates? Any lucky buyers?
