If you’ve just updated your Picasa app, you probably noticed an interesting feature inside. Apparently, we’re now getting Google+ auto backup, via an utility offered within the app on Mac and Windows.

The new software can be used to automatically backup your pics and vids from user selected directories to the Google+ account. It’s important to notice that the app doesn’t have to do anything with the Picasa service, in spite of shipping with its app. The software can save unlimited 2048px photos to your Google+ account, or you can upload full size pics with the sacrifice of Google Drive space.

You can also intelligently copy media from storage cards or other devices attached to your system. The app can also be configured to backup all media to a certain location on the hard drive, putting all the backed up stuff in one place. You can get all those features by simply downloading the Picasa app from here.
