If you want to buy the developer kit for Project Tango, the famous tablet with special 3D camera sensors and more, you’ll be happy to know that the price has been cut by 50%. This device is able to perform 3D spatial mapping and you can’t buy it without a special invitation.

Some of the applicants who have been invited have confirmed that the huge price has been cut in half. The email that some customers received also mentions that Google is preparing to open up sales more broadly. This could mean we’ll get online sales, like Google offered at some point for the Google Glass pair. Or it could mean Google ordered more units from its hardware supplier and plans to send more invites.

We can’t see this product in the Google store just yet, if you ask me. LG is said to have made a hardware partnership with Google and it’ll aid with the development of the product. Last we heard, the tablet was packing an Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, a 1920 x 1200 pixel display with 7 inch diagonal and a 1 MP rear camera sensor, as well as 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
