Google seems to be preparing a new Chromebook, according to a Google Play Console leak, that hints at a device codenamed “Zork”, with an AMD Ryzen 3 processor. This is a budget device for sure and some of its key specs have been revealed.
The device has been tipped by 91Mobiles, who writes that Zork revealed its CPU, RAM and display specs. The device will be powered by the AMD Ryzen 3 3250C processor and it’s definitely not the first AMD-based Chromebook, but it’s still one of the few. HP and Acer were favourites for putting AMD CPUs on Chromebooks back in 2019. The Chromebook 14 and 315 models were the first Chrome OS devices with the AMD a4 CPU inside. Later, a few other Chromebooks have hit the market with the last being HP Pro c645 Chromebook Enterprise.
It has the same AMD Ryzen 3 3250 processor found in this listing. It also shows a Full HD screen with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 160 dpi. As far as memory and GPU are concerned, we’re about to get 4 GB of RAM and AMD Radeon Vega 3 graphics. Another device dubbed “Zork” was spotted in GeekBench a while ago, but that one had a Ryzen 7 3700C CPU and 8 GB of RAM. The new Chromebook being tested now runs on Android 9, which is odd and probably an error, or emulator testing.
There are also whispers we may see these models coming under the Pixelbook brand. We have no yet for sure just yet, but we’re also privy to info about a Pixelbook Go 2 with the codename “Halvor”, with an Intel 11th gen CPU and 16 GB of RAM. Google may have seen the opportunity of home schooling and doubled down on its laptop efforts.
