Everybody is getting angry at Apple these days, over the whole lack of charger and headphones in the iPhone 12 box. I’d take that with a big grain of salt and now we talk about the future iPads. Turns out that the future 10.8 inch iPad and new 8.5 inch iPad Mini will have faster chargers then before.
The info comes from a note sent by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo to investors. He mentions an unspecified 10.8 inch iPad, maybe the rumored iPar Air 4 with USB-C and also a next gen iPad Mini. The new iPad Air is said to sport very sim bezels and a design inspired by the existing iPad Pro models. It’ll lack the Home button and it could be replaced with an in display Touch ID sensor. Apparently, that’s cheaper than a Face ID mechanism. Now , to the chargers!
The source mentions a bundled 20W charger in the box of the future iPad Mini 8.5 incher and 10.8 inch slate. The latter should have an Apple A14 Bionic CPU, the same one from the iPhone 12. It’s not very clear if we’ll get any sort of 5G version of the device this year. Apple may also provide an USB-C port on the new iPad Mini, by the way. As far as debut goes, the iPad Air 4 may come this fall, while the iPad Mini 8.5 inch may come in the first half of 2021.
The 20W charger mentioned above also appeared in rumors related to the iPhone 12, the entry level unit. It’s an upgrade from the 5W unit of the iPhone 11. Existing 5W and 18W chargers will apparently cease production this year. 12W models will be in production for up to 12 months, until current iPads reach the end of life.
