Elite Computer Systems was at MWC 2014 and showed off a reference design for an 8 inch Android slate that ran on an Intel Atom Z3735E Bay Trail processor. It appears that this model is now headed to the US market.
The ECS TA80TA1 has passed through the FCC this week and could be headed for launch. ECS is an Original Equipment Manufacturer, meaning it usually makes hardware for other companies, so like an OEM. It’s not yet clear if they’re making their own product here or not, but this tablet is expected to pack 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a 1280 x 800 pixel display, a microUSB port, microSD card slot and micro HDMI port.
Thanks to the FCC we can spot some of the components on the motherboard, plus a 4150 mAh battery, front and back cameras and stereo speakers at the back. No idea what the price will be, but at least we get to look at the insides of a new Bay Trail tablet.
