Dell has updated its Venue 8 7840 tablet to the latest Android finally, reaching version Android 5.1. The ultraslim model was updated late to Android 5.0, receiving the software package in May. Now it’s time for Android 5.1 to be pushed to the unit.
Since Dell has decided not to customize the experience too much, the experience is pretty much the same as on other Android 5.1 devices, with improved heads up notifications and enhanced quick settings. The depth sensing cameras at the back have been slightly tweaked and the usual bug fixes and enhancements are here as well. The update comes over the air via the update menu right now.
The Dell Venue 8 7840 got a lot of hype late last year and early this year, for its quality specs, decent price and special cameras at the back. The device packs an OLED 8.4 inch screen with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and an Intel Atom processor, a pretty powerful one. The product costs around $400 and also brings 16 GB of storage.
