The Aakash 2 is an Indian tablet priced at $40 and supposed to be a big hit in its home country. Now it’s reaching the western world, where it will also have a very good price of 30 quid in the UK at least.
The device is meant primarily for the schools and it should bundle educational software. Manufacturer DataWind updated its site with the UK versions of the 3 commercial products it has available in India: UbiSlate 7Ci, 7C+ and 7Cz. There’s also another version dubbed 3G7 that reached the FCC earlier this year, with a 7 inch screen and HSPA connectivity.
The main product available here in UK is the DataWind 7 inch UbiSlate, with a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU, 8 GB of storage and 80 quid price, since this is supposed to be the top of the line model. There’s also the 7C+, that has a lower price, half the storage, slower connectivity (EDGE) and probably a lesser price.
