Back in December pod2g and co released the Corona untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.x devices using the A4 CPU and earlier units and since then everyone has been demanding and waiting for the debut of a similar method for Apple A5 devices. These are the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 obviously and now we finally get an announcement that the hackers and devs are one step closer to release, with the software coming in the following hours.
The efforts here belong to pod2g and the all star team of hackers he created, that includes the iPhone Dev Team members and some guys from the Chronic Dev Team. The general release is very close and there’s no download link just yet. Hours of coding and very little sleep generated this new jailbreak and I can only imagine what other hurdles these guys will encounter once the first Apple A6 CPU devices are released. The supported firmware versions here are the following:
– iPhone4S: 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) and the “other” 5.0.1 (9A406)
– iPad2: 5.0.1 (9A405)
Once all the bugs are out of the equation the release will be incorporated into the redsn0w GUI and Chronic Dev seems to have incorporated the overall flow into a GUI that already runs on a Mac or PC. Paypal contributions are as usually welcome for these restless coders and hackers.
