Chinon is a company that you must have never heard of, unless you plan on buying some affordable Android tablets soon. Well, they’ve just launched some models powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread: SWIFT7 and SWIFT10.
The first goes for $159.99 and it features a 1.2 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, a 7 inch display with a 800 x 600 pixel resolution, 4 GB of internal storage and a VGA shooter. The SWIFT10 is priced higher, but still affordable, at $279.99 and comes with the same CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 10 inch IPS screen with a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution and 8 GB of internal storage.
There’s also a 2 megapixel camera a the front and a 2MP camera at the back. I must mention that both models run Android 2.3 Gingerbread with an interface that mimics Honeycomb’s UI. Gingerbread is certainly not optimized for tablets, but it’s certainly a fine OS with the Amazon customization on the 7 inch Kindle Fire. It wasn’t that bad on the HTC Flyer either…
