We’ve seen Shanzai tablets and phones popping up before the real devices for a while now, so nothing amazes us anymore. This time the iPad 3 got cloned in China ahead of launch, with the following knockoff being available:
This Shanzai iPad 3 has average specifications and it comes with a 9.7 inch IPS display with a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, a 2 megapixel main camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS of choice. This model is based on the A9 Cortex processor and uses a Mali 400 GPU, so gaming will be fine on this slate.
As far as design goes, imagine a combo between the iPad and iPad 2, with the resulting device being a bit thicker than the iPad, at 9.8mm. With the iPad 3 rumored to come in March, you may want to hold off from buying this device and save your money for the next Amazon Kindle Fire, for example. Sadly, I have no price tag for this knockoff…
