TCL held a major event yesterday in Las Vegas at CES 2022, where it unveiled a bunch of phones, its first laptop, but also half a dozen tablets. Most of them pertain to the Tab series, but there’s also a TCL Nxtpaper 10s unit and tablets for kids. We check them out below.
TCL Nxtpaper 10S
TCL Nxtpaper 10S has a special matte texture display, which is easier on the eyes. It uses a 10.1 inch IPS LCD panel with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. Normal screens are glossy, but this one is matte, in order to reduce eye fatigue. The display is TUV certified and TCL claims that it has 50% less blue light emissions than regular tablets. We also promised natural color reproduction and wide view angles. The panel works with the optional T-Pen active stylus.
Other specs include a MediaTek Helio P23 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, plus microSD. We also get a 5 MP selfie camera and an 8 MP back shooter with LED flash. The battery sounds pretty nice, at 8000 mAh and it’s able to charge via USB-C at 18W. It runs Android 11 out of the box and has a special TCL Kids Mode, providing educational content. Flip and type cases are also available. The product starts at $249.
TCL Tab 10L
TCL Tab 10L is a budget-friendly slate with a 10.1 inch HD+ screen and a MediaTek MT8167B processor. It’s supposed to replace heavy textbooks and also it’s meant to consume media. Specs are pretty light, with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, plus a microSD dard slot. It’s all rounded up by a 4080 mAh battery and there’s also Android 11 on the software-side here. A 2 MP front and back camera are also present, plus audio jack. The device is priced at just $99 and will come in Q1.
TCL Tab 8 4G
We drop diagonal to 8 inches now with the Tab 8 4G, which is basically a more compact version of the Tab 10L. It has an 8 inch IPS LCD screen and a MediaTek MT8766B processor, together with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, plus microSD. They have many things in common, including a plastic shell for extra protection and bright yellow colors. They also have Tkee pens for drawing and writing. Inside we find MediaTek MT8167 processors, together with 1 or 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, plus microSD.
