While some companies are dreaming up Nougat time frames and deadlines, ASUS is happy with delivering Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the ZenPad S 8.0 models these days. We’re talking about the Z580CA and Z580C models, both hit with the update this week.

Keep in mind that the update needs to be done manually and it won’t happen over the air. It brings the devices to firmware version 5.4.3.0 and it’ll decrease internal storage slightly. ASUS suggests backing up data and relocating media files before the update. It’s also recommended that the battery is at more than 50%, when performing the update.

As with the ZenFone 2 models, the tablet will get some apps removed, such as Clean Master, Data Transfer, Dr. Booster, Dr Safety, Free Games, Omlet, PC Link, Puffin, Remote Link and TripAdvisor, as well as Yahoo Shopping and Zinio. This means less bloatware and on paper should free storage. New apps installed with the release Google Calendar and Facebook Messenger.

The release also brings Doze, improved permissions, memory management and the usual performance boosts.
