ASUS Transformer Prime has been showcased briefly by the ASUS CEO Jonney Shih during the AsiaD conference and now it gets its very own teaser page. Previously known as the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2, this Tegra 3 tablet is supposed to debut in the following weeks and it will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, either at first or via an upgrade that will come after the launch.

Transformer Prime is thinner and more elegant than its predecessor, plus more powerful, since it relies on a Kal-El Nvidia processor, also called Tegra 3. ARM Cortex A9 is the technology that powers the quad core CPU here and this makes the new Transformer the world’s first quad core tablet. Rumor has it that the A6 processor from Apple will also be a quad core one, intended for the next iPad or the tablet after that.

Texas Instruments seems to be regarded with more respect than Nvidia these days and specialists say that TI is the future of all Android devices coming in 2012 and onwards. People are tired with having their battery drained by Nvidia’s technology and Android, that’s quite energy-intensive. Now let’s see how Tegra 3 handles the heat…
