ASUS promised last week to offer the Transformer Prime an OTA firmware update that has just started rolling out. It’s supposed to offer enhancements and tweaks for the slate, but it’s not the Android 4.0.4 update in case you’re wondering. The latest download offers some UI tweaks, but it lacks the face unlock some of you may have been expecting.

What you do get is the ability to manage notifications from the lock screen and an update to the Vibe content portal and player, with a new UI. The tablets HDMI output is improved and you can also lock the notification bar while in an application. Finally there’s USB support for USB Ethernet adapters and Ad hoc networking. ASUS didn’t comment on the Face Unlock feature, but sources say they’re actually working on an improvement of this technology, that will make it even better and provide it with a future update.

Maybe ASUS will implement extra security features, like blink detection and the ability to distinguish between a photo of a person and the real person. Working so closely with Google, ASUS makes me think about that Nexus Tablet again…
