After publishing this article about the ASUS TF500T reaching the FCC, the mystery device was briefly detailed to us by a trusted source. Our source said that this is a 10 inch tablet, that fits between the TF300 and TF700 as far as specs and quality go. It will have Gorilla Glass protection and a battery capacity bigger than the TF300.
This is not a Windows 8 slate, since those models are meant to adopt even number codenames like the Slate 400, 600 and 800. As far as specs go, the ASUS TF500T is supposed to feature a quad core Snapdragon S4 chipset, but that’s only a hope for now, without confirmation. The ASUS Transformer Pad 300 recently started getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, so maybe the newcomer can lauch with this OS right from the start.
I also wonder what type of camera will be on board and how big the battery on this model will be. If this device adopts a quad core Krait CPU, I bet that Nvidia is going to be angry that they were replaced with a Qualcomm solution yet again. I also expect the price to be pretty decent for this unit, but we’ll keep you informed about that.
