ASUS just confirmed on its official Google+ account that the much talked about PadFone will be launched in April. We’ve had some quality time with the device at MWC 2012, as shown here and we were very impressed by its potential. This is a 3 in 1 unit, with an Android 4.0 smartphone embedded into a tablet, that can connect to a keyboard dock.

The trio becomes a quartet once a stylus with Bluetooth headset capability joins in. There’s no exact time frame for the April launch, but it’s good to know that around Easter time we’ll have a nifty gift available. Let me remind you that the core of this combo is an Android 4.0 handset, that uses a Snapdragon S4 dual core 1.5GHz CPU, a 4.3 inch display and an 8MP camera. The handset is inserted into a 10.1 inch tablet, that offers 2 USB ports, a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and uses the 8MP cam of the phone.

Add the keyboard dock in the mix and you’ve got a device called the Padfone Station, that expands the battery life of the PadFone up to 9 times. The station weighs 724 grams and I doubt you’ll be able to buy any of these devices separately, although the smartphone part would make a very nice standalone product.
