As you probably know already, on October 16th there will be a simultaneous ASUS press event in Milan and Taipei, where the ASUS PadFone 2 will be announced and showcased. Before that happens we’ve got the usual leaks, that today turned into an avalanche. Not only did Bloomberg India have a hands on with the device, but the Twitter account @evleaks got hold of some press pictures portraying the hybrid.
PadFone 2 is shown as a handset that keeps pretty much the same design as the predecessor, but adopts a bigger diagonal screen, at 4.7 inches. I’m supposing that’s a 720p screen and at the back there’s another upgrade, to a 13 megapixel camera, with some great photo samples shown in the video below. The Padfone Station tablet has also been redesigned and now instead of using a small door to cover up the phone, it keeps it exposed, when it enters the tray in the body of the slate.
The tablet dock also looks thinner and more elegant. The phone is still teardrop shaped, seems to have a glass facade and a metal frame around it. It also has capacitive keys and rumors say we should see a quad core Snapdragon s4 Pro CPU here, plus 1 or 2 GB of RAM. Maybe Jelly Bean will be available as well and this is pretty much where the rumors stop. We’ll be back with official information from Milan next week.
