As you know, we already unboxed the ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7 tablet here and we’re preparing its detailed review on the Tablet News YouTube channel. In the meantime I can’t help but notice how good the 5 megapixel camera on this device actually is.

The photos included in this article are full size samples taken with the camera, one indoors and one outdoors. Both are pretty clear and offer great quality, but the really impressive part was the video quality. ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7 does Full HD video capture in 25 FPS and it looks great. It’s able to do autofocus and supports touch focus, plus the camera UI offers a ton of effects, even more than the ASUS MeMo Pad FHD 10.

There’s a full gallery of pictures taken with the camera here. Why this fuss about a mere tablet? Well, for starters it costs just $149 on Amazon in the 16 GB version, which is a very affordable price tag. Second, it has a quad core MediaTek CPU. If that’s not a bargain, I don’t know what is.
