Among the big companies present at MWC 2013 there’s Samsung, Nokia and of course ASUS, that will have a bunch of very interesting tablets ready to show in Barcelona. One of them is the mythical ASUS Fonepad, that already reached the FCC and its various counterparts all over the world. Among them we find the GCF, the Global Certification Forum, that basically confirms the existence of the device.

They confirm the name first, Fonepad, that brings us to the idea of a tablet with phone features and the GCF also offers other details, like those related to connectivity and support for GSM 850/900/1800/1900 Bands, EDGE class 10 and more. This 7 inch tablet could be the ASUS ME371MG unit we’ve seen mentioned on the web before, packing an Intel Atom Z2420 processor. The picture shown below is supposedly the one of this tablet, taken a few days ago.

The ASUS Fonepad ME371MG’s preliminary specs include a 1280 x 800 IPS display, the Intel Atom 1.2 GHz CPU mentioned before and 1 GB of RAM. There’s also 8/16/32GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot and a 4.270 mAh battery. The device weighs 340 grams and measures 10.4 mm in thickness. Let’s hope  that the price will be good, since this device sure sounds like a potential hit for the lower end market.
