ASUS debuted this week in India a new Fonepad 7 model, one that uses dual SIM slots and is priced below $150. This device is codenamed FE170CG and it was actually introduced in April, then released on Thailand in May, but now it comes to India.

This may just be the reply of ASUS to the Lenovo slate launched this week in India. Anyway, this new FonePad 7 dual SIM unit comes with a 7 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, voice calling capabilities and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as the OS. The CPU inside is a dual core Intel Atom Z2520 Clover Trail+ and the Android experience is paired up with Zen UI. The CPU is clocked at 1.2 GHz and uses Hyper Threading technology.

There’s 1 GB of RAM on board, 4 or 8 GB of storage a microSD card slot with support for up to 64 GB extra and 5 GB of ASUS WebStorage cloud space for a lifetime. There’s also an additional 11 GB for the first year. The FE170CG also uses a 2 megapixel back camera, a 0.3 MP webcam and the usual connectivity options, like WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, Miracast GPS and HSPA+. The battery on this slate provides up to 10 hours of functioning time and its price tag is $147.
